· Weight reduction
· Vibration damping

Performance Benefits

  • VERSATILE ~~ bonds a wide range of unprepared metals with minimal substrate preparation.
  • WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE ~~ -40 to +300ºF (-40 to +149º C)
  • ENVIRONMENTALLY RESISTANT ~~ resists dilute acids, alkalis, solvents, greases, oils, moisture, salt spray and weathering; provides excellent resistance to UV exposure.
  • PRECISE BONDLINE ~~ allows precise control of adhesive bondline thickness due to content of glass beads, 0.01"

Applications

SPECIALTY CONSTRUCTION
Cladding, Signs, Windows & Doors
Stronger, faster-curing alternative to adhesives typically used in the window and door industry. Improve wind load resistance/design pressure for severe weather doors and sidelights. Typical bonding applications include corner key joints, perimeter bonds frames, sidelights, internal reinforcements, astragals, "dowel" joints and cladding.

SHIPPING
Enclosed Trucks, Trailers, Containers and Pallets
Improve aesthetics, strength and eliminate leak points, making it easier to apply logos and advertisements while reducing aftermarket service due to improved product quality.

transportation.jpgTRANSPORTATION
Bus, Rail and Heavy Truck
Engine compartment doors, air conditioning and air intake components, dashboards, front bumpers, grills and other internal parts as well as carriage and frame components.

solar.jpgGREEN ENERGY
Wind and Solar
Unique product chemistries to bond a variety of substrates with multiple cure speeds available to adapt to changing manufacturing environments. Easy to apply in the field for repair or refurbishment applications.

ambulance.jpgSPECIALTY VEHICLES
Ambulances, Fire Apparatus, Marine & Work Truck Bodies
With applications including aluminum, steel or galvanized roof, panel, door, tailgate, sidewall, corner cap and post bonding, the possibilities are endless for specialty vehicles.

While welding and fastening have been the traditional methods for bonding metal, adhesives have increasingly gained popularity, especially for joining dissimilar materials.

Along with time, process and cost considerations, other benefits include stress reduction on components, ability to bond dissimilar substrates, higher shear strength, environmental resistance and the need for less-skilled labor. In addition, corrosion control coatings on metallic substrates can be ruined during the welding process. Epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics are alternatives to fasteners and welding. The type needed depends on the application, as some adhesives work better on certain substrates (i.e. Plastics vs. metals) or have certain chemical advantages. Some manufacturers are reluctant to use adhesives due to several misconceptions, such as the belief that they will not last as long, are not as strong, or have additional safety concerns associated with their use. In fact, adhesives actually offer exceptional reliability and can improve a component’s performance, reducing stress points and enhancing corrosion resistance.

Their use requires no greater safety precautions than other fastening methods. As with any chemical, adhesives must be used in a well-ventilated area and with personal protective equipment, such as face mask or eye protection. To determine if adhesives are an option for you, consider these factors: product design, application, material substrate, and process techniques. Even if you currently are using adhesive bonding, there might be additional ways to make the process more efficient.
